Patsy RIGGIR QSM (1984)

Patsy Riggir

1945 - Patsy Evelyn Ann Riggir was born on October 6th in Arapuni, New Zealand.

Patsy began singing as a youngster with her parents, but a career was put on hold until her school days came to an end.

1973 – Began entering talent quests.

1974 - Patsy was the first winner of Gore's Golden Guitar Awards.

Appearances on TV in “The Entertainers”, in 1976, and “Touch Of Country”, in 1978, were just the beginning as it would not be until 1981 that she achieved her first record success with “Lay Down Beside Me”. This was followed in 1983 by “Sailor”, then in 1984, “Beautiful Lady” was awarded the” Most Popular Song Of The Year”.

1980 – New Zealand Entertainer of the Year. Co-hosted the “Fan Fair” tours to the United States where she guested on the “Ralph Emery TV Show” as well as performing in Honolulu and the “Grand Ol’ Opry”.

1981 - Patsy won the “New Talent Of The Year” title at the Country Music Awards Of Australia. Again co-hosted the “Fan Fair” tour to the United States and again appeared on the “Grand Ol’ Opry”.

1982 - RIANZ New Zealand Music Awards– Top Female Vocal.

1983 - RIANZ New Zealand Music Awards- Most Popular Song with "Beautiful Lady"

She represented New Zealand at country music gatherings in Fort Worth, Texas in 1983 & 1984, Nashville in 1987,

1984 – Golden Guitar at the Country Music Awards of Australia for Female Vocalist of the Year with “Beautiful Lady”. RIANZ New Zealand Music Awards - Album of the Year and Best Country Album with You'll Never Take the Country Out of Me and Top Female Vocal. Inducted into the Hands of Fame.

1985 – Golden Guitar at the Country Music Awards of Australia for Female Vocalist of the Year with “You’ll Never Take the Country Out of Me”. RIANZ New Zealand Music Awards - Best Country Album with You Remind Me Of A Love Song.

1986 – Golden Guitar at the Country Music Awards of Australia for Female Vocalist of the Year with “You Remind Me of a Love Song”. RIANZ New Zealand Music Awards Best Country Album with Patsy Riggir Country.

1987 - Golden Guitar at the Country Music Awards of Australia for Top Selling Album with “Patsy Riggir Country”.

1994 – Awarded the Queen’s Service Medal (QSM) in the New Years Honours list for community service.
