Jones Brothers

1930 – Geoff was born on the 15th of June in Ayr, North Queensland.

1932 – Laurie was born on the 20th of January in Ayr, North Queensland.

During the war their parents were involved in concerts and the boys often joined in.

Formed a trio with friend Don Sinclair.

1953 – The brothers moved to Melbourne. Influenced by the Hawking Brothers, the Wissell Sisters, Les Partell.

1954 – Back in Ayr they were performing regularly and were determined to be professional entertainers.

1955 – Moved to Sydney. Performed on the showboat “Kalang”, Reg Lindsay Shows and other venues. Performed with Smoky Dawson at the Royal Easter Show. Frank Ifield was instrumental in them recording on Rodeo Records.

Geoff developed throat problems and the duo folded in September 1955.

1997 – Inducted into the Hands of Fame.
