Kevin & Joyce DURDIN (2003)

Durdins

1931 – Kevin was born on the 20th of October.

1934 – Joyce was born on the 23rd of January.

1951 – Kevin and Joyce married and began a singing career. The entered a number of competitions, one of which was on BTV6 Ballarat, which they won. This launched their career.

1950’s – They travelled to Adelaide regularly to appear on the Reg Lindsay television show.

1968 – Signed to Hadley Records and released 4 records on that label. Recorded other songs and backed the Hawking Brothers. There biggest hit was titled “The Mini Skirt”.

1970 – Toured with the “Gavan Arden Country and Western Show” around Victoria and NSW. The tour ended in Tamworth. It was not a very successful tour.

1971 – Toured with Buddy William which went around Australia, in particular the Aboriginal missions of Northern Territory and Western Australia.

1973 – Formed their own band called “The Durdins”. The performed on Friday and Saturday nights for over 22 years.

1988 – Went to America for a holiday, but ended up performing at the Quality Inn Hotel in Nashville as well as on the paddle wheeler “The Mississippi”.

2002 – Released a CD titled “The Complete Collection”

2003 – Inducted into the Hands of Fame.

2006 – Toured the north island of New Zealand. Inducted into the New Zealand Hall of Fame.

2007 – Awarded Seniors of the Year in Victoria. Presented with their award at Government House.
