Olive BICE (1990)

Olive Bice 

Olive was born in Eaglehawk on the 9th of June and has lived in Bendigo all her life.

She is an established and very popular recording artist and has recorded on labels such as Morning Mist, R&H, Buribi and Hadley.

In her early years she was influenced by artists such as Shirley Thoms, June Holms and Patsy Cline.

She has toured with Reg Poole (1981), Buddy Weston (1983) and Rick and Thel Carey (1986). During the 1980’s she toured Australia with her own show

1977 - Best Female Yodeller (Portland, Victoria).

1980's - She toured Australia with her own show.

1989 - Inducted into the Barmera's Avenue of Honour "Rocky's Country Music Hall of Fame".

1990- Inducted into the ‘Hands of Fame’- Tamworth.

1991- Winner- ‘Battle of the Indies’ Most Popular Independent Recording Artist.

1992 – Winner - Professional Female Vocal Victoria Country Music Awards.

1993 - Runner-up - Professional Duo (with Anne Conway) Victorian Country Music Awards. She extended her horizons by taking part in the Australian Showcase Tour to the Gore Awards in New Zealand.

1994 - Winner Tex Morton Memorial Award.

1995 – Winner - Victorian Female Vocalist – Victorian Country Music Awards.

1995 - Citizen of the Year by the City of Greater Bendigo in recognition of her community charity work. Also awarded with an Honorary Life Governorship of the Royal Children’s Hospital in recognition of her support.

1996 - Awarded the Australian Country Music Community Service Award- Tamworth Peel Valley Lions Club.

1998 – Winner - Victorian Entertainer of the Year- Victorian Country Music Awards.

1998 – Winner - Victorian Female Vocalist- Victorian Country Music Awards.

2011 - Winner of the Tamworth Songwriters' Association Gospel Song of the Year for "Our Angel" with Debbie Lehmann.

Since 1992 Olive has been staring with Anne Conway in the “Tribute to Patsy Cline Show”.

Olive coordinated and compered the “Olive Byce Showcase” at the Mildura Country Music Festival.

Was the Victorian Coordinator for the Tamworth Songwriters Association.

Co-hosted at the annual Oxley Bowling Club shows during the Tamworth Festival.

With a career which has spanned over thirty years, Olive has worked with Lee Conway, Jimmy Little, Rocky Page, Barry Thornton, Slim Dusty, The Hawking Brothers, Chad Morgan, Wayne Horsburgh, Kathryn & Elaine Pitt, Denise Morrison, and the Howie Brothers
