Mick ANTONIO (2008)

Mick Antonio

1920 – Born at Smysdale near Ballarat.

1936 – Began singing and yodelling at shows around the local area.

1940 - 1946 – In the army.

1947 – Moved to Sydney and auditioned for EMI and was told he need to tour before they would record him. As he had a young family touring was not possible.

Entered the Australia’s Amateur Hour. On his second attempt he topped the poll.

Performed around the central areas of Victoria. Had a 12 month program on 3CV Maryborough.

1959 – Released his first recording, a six track EP on Planet Records.

1963 – Released an EP on W & G.

1965 – Released his second EP for W & G.

1977 – His first album was released on Crest.

1979 – Released a cassette on Country Sounds.

2008 – Inducted into the Hands of Fame.

2009 – Passed away on the 14th of April.
